FREE MATH LESSON - “Subitizing to 12: I Have/Who Has and Ten-Frame Flash”

by Math Coach's Corner
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

Subitizing is the ability to instantly recognize a small quantity without counting. Subitizing is a fundamental skill that leads to the ability to compose and decompose number, which is the foundation for fact fluency. Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade should have daily opportunities to subitize with both structured and unstructured arrangements.

• 12 I Have/Who Has? cards showing pictorial representation of numbers to 12 (designed for small group, rather than whole group, instruction)
• Large ten-frame flash cards showing the numbers 0 to 10
