FREE SOCIAL STUDIES LESSON - “Nevertheless, she persisted.”

by Ms BBZ
6th - 12th Grade

Senator Mitch McConnell silenced Senator Elizabeth Warren on the floor of the Senate as she sought to speak out against injustice, using Coretta Scott King's historic letter. This is a poster commemorating the event, and reminding us all to fight for what is right.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Finding Words Literacy Pack”

by Katie Jones
Kindergarten - 5th Grade

This is a packet of 28 worksheets that can be used to promote literacy.

Each worksheet asks students to find different words using the letters of a larger word/phrase. After finding 10 words, the student writes a story using the words they have found.

Among the worksheets are: Happy New Year, April showers, Happy Earth Day, summer time, and many more! I've even included a blank template for you to have students write in their own word.

Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns. I'm always looking for new ideas for words/phrases to include in this product. If you have a suggestion, please leave it under the "ask a question" section. I will add it ASAP :)

Don't forget to leave me feedback for this product to earn your TpT credits!

FREE MATH LESSON - “Area and Perimeter Task Cards - Footloose Math Game”

by Cognitive Cardio with Middle School Math Moments
4th - 6th Grade

Area and Perimeter Task Cards - Footloose Activity:

Students love to play Footloose! Area and Perimeter Footloose includes 30 question cards about area and perimeter of rectangles (the cards are available with and without a background - same questions on both sets - just the option of a background when printing). The questions require students to: calculate area and perimeter of rectangles: find missing sides; find perimeter when given area and a side length; compare areas and perimeters of rectangles.
Students solve every problem and record their answers in the corresponding box on the Footloose grid that they each receive.
This activity includes the Footloose grid, 30 cards, an answer key and directions. I would recommend copying the 30 cards onto cardstock and/or laminating them.

For more area and perimeter practice, your students might like Area and Perimeter Color by Number or Area and Perimeter Truth or Dare

This activity can also be found in Footloose Math MEGA Bundle: 1080 Footloose Cards.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Revision Read-Aloud: FREE Activity for Improving Student Writing”

by Secondary Sara
6th - 9th Grade

My FAVORITE revision activity is to have students read their own work out loud; it usually becomes their favorite strategy too, but it’s not something that most students will naturally do on their own. Demonstrate this life skill for students and change the way they view the revision process!

Using this 3-page handout as a guide, your class will first discuss what the strategy is and self-assess their initial understanding of it; two credible articles are hyperlinked if you also wish to do non-fiction background reading on the subject.

Students then transition into independent read-aloud with a timer, recording observations of what they notice and what changes should be made in the next draft. Finally, they complete partner read-alouds to help give their peers feedback about what to edit or revise. (As a bonus, the sheet also gives tips for how to use text-to-speech software to let a computer read the essay TO you.)

Download this FREE 45-minute activity and repeat it with future rough drafts to improve the quality of student writing (and your overall grading experience)!

NOTE: EDITABLE versions of this product are INCLUDED in my Public Speaking Activity Bundle and myEditing & Revising Bundle. Check them out to save big!
