FREE SCIENCE LESSON - “Animal Research Project”

Animal Research Project

(animals, adaptations, habitats, predator and prey, research, reading for information, note-taking)

This is a simple mini-research project that can be used with textbooks, nonfiction books, and articles found online. Students will research animals of their choice and record facts about adaptations, habitats, diets, etc. about them.

FREE SCIENCE LESSON - “Need for Speed: A STEM Project”

Low Prep Unit!! Just print and gather STEM materials.

Goal: Students will create an aerodynamic car that can travel the greatest distance in the shortest amount of time. The car will travel down a ramp. Distance traveled will be measured from the bottom of the ramp.

Students will explore how wheel and axles, air resistance, and mass affect the speed of a car they design. This unit is laid out step by step for the teacher and students. Students watch a video or two, answer a few questions, and explore the concept through experiments.

FREE SCIENCE LESSON - “Spot the Decoy - Skeletal and Muscular System 7.13A”

Spot the Decoy!

Students will read through 4 facts and decide which is the decoy trying to trick them. They will shade the decoy! They will then be asked to Expose the Truth! by writing a statement that fixes and explains the decoy. For example: A carnivore eats meat, not meat and plants.

There may be facts that the students haven't learned in their class notes. This is just an opportunity for students to research and figure out as they are working. I usually allow an ipad during an activity like this for students to do scientific research when they get stumped.
