by Amy Bratsos
Pre-Kindergarten - 1st Grade

This colorful "I Have, Who Has?" game is ideal for reviewing basic shapes, colors and counting 1-8. It requires no reading (other than "I have, who has"), so with a minimum of guidance your little pre-school and kindergarteners should be able to play and enjoy this game successfully.
This product comes with 7 pages (4 to a page), giving you 28 cards to use for the game. Enjoy!
Please leave feedback, as I truly appreciate the wisdom of my colleagues as I continue to create instructional materials!

Greek & Latin Roots

Greek & Latin Roots Set

Help students improve their vocabulary recognition by introducing Greek & Latin Roots.
This interactive notebook & poster set Includes:
-suggested use/ directions
-30 different Greek/Latin root cards
-Greek/ Latin Root of the Week Poster
-Card pocket for Interactive Notebooks
-word cards

This set was designed to be used using Greek & Latin root word sets that are found in the book: Greek & Latin Roots-Teaching Vocabulary to Improve Reading Comprehension by Trisha Callella . Since the vocabulary words in this book are copyrighted, they could not be included in this product. However, 30 Greek/ Latin roots are included. It is very easy to do an internet search to come up with vocabulary words that go with the given root words. My suggestion is to pull 8-10 words from each root to create your own lists. Another option is to have students work in groups to research their own words and meaning to write on the provided vocabulary cards.

FREE MISC. LESSON - “Mental Health Daily Check In Hearts”

by MissPhillips
2nd - 8th Grade

FREE DOWNLOAD!
These hearts can be used to check in on all of your students throughout the school day. I recommend leaving a couple of each heart in your classroom next to a basket that is away from where most of the daily activities take place. Have each of your students fill one out at any point during the day, and then you use the information as you will. This is a great way to teach students about the importance of mental health as well as check on all of your students in a way that is comfortable and non-intrusive to them.

This Shakespeare Log assignment is perfect for any play by the Bard that you happen to assign. Even better, it works for both in-class and out-of-class reading assignments, so it can be used to fit any of your needs. The only real requirement is that it should be used with one of Shakespeare’s wonderful tragedies, comedies, or histories. Of course, if you edit it for another purpose, that is fine, too!

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Writing Activity: Creative Writing - Publish It!”

by Connie
6th - 12th Grade

This is one of my most effective first day assignments. I use it in my creative writing classes, but it could be used in a grade 6-12 English class when students are writing poetry, fiction or non-fiction.

It includes a picture of Olga(class of '11) and her book (she wrote the book during her Creative Writing 4 class, created the book cover for the assignment and published it on www.blurb.com). The kids really get into this assignment because they allow themselves to imagine their first published book- be it fiction, narrative non-fiction or poetry.

When all the covers have been turned in, I staple them to the bulletin board. Parents LOVE this on Back-to-School Night. It's also a great way for me to check their writing skills and plan lessons to meet the students' needs.
