FREE MISC. LESSON - “Standardized Testing: Encouraging Engagement”

by Spark Creativity
2nd - 12th Grade

You’ve got testing coming up and your students are not excited. Neither are you, for that matter. It’s hard to get behind a day in which your students are miserable, you don’t get to teach them anything, and the results of their bored labor can and will be used against you.

Luckily, there are ways you can encourage your students to genuinely engage in the process of standardized testing, whether or not they can ever genuinely enjoy it.

What’s inside:

Class Challenge Cards: use the cards to add a fun level of challenge and competition to the process. By trying to earn points through good preparation and focused test-taking, students can bring a more positive attitude into the process.

I Know You Can Do It Cards: Print these cards and include them in a small test-taking kit for your students. Add a fun pencil, a hard candy or pack of gum, maybe a Good Luck wristband.

Test - Themed Creative Writing Prompts: Sprinkle these into your curriculum leading up to the test. Sometimes applying a bit of imagination and hilarity to a difficult subject helps lighten its load.
