FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Penguin Poetry Freebie”

by MsFultzsCorner
2nd - 4th Grade

This cute little poem freebie was pulled from my Penguin Unit for Big Kids.

Pattern poems are great, even for reluctant writers because of their structure. As a bonus, the finished products look great on seasonal bulletin board displays. I have my students do a draft on regular paper and we check it together before transferring it to their final copy. This gives students a chance to proofread their writing and work on dictionary skills as they correct spelling mistakes too.

If you love this unit, I have an entire set of Big Kid Units in my store in other fun themes!

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “FREEBIE Roll-Read-Build a Leprechaun!”

by Mercedes Merrell
1st - 2nd Grade

Hello, this is a freebie that I created to share with you, and I want to let you know that it goes along with one of my March products: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Mrs. O’Daly and the Leprechaun.
This Roll- Read- Build a Leprechaun is self-explanatory, all you need is to make copies to put in your literacy centers, put them in plastic sleeves for durability, and provide the students with dice, and drawing paper.
Students can work individually, in pairs, or group of up to 6.
Take turns rolling the dice, read/do what is indicated on the number, and watch the children be totally engaged, practicing their reading, and having lots of fun. * Great for ELD too! For a challenge, have 4-6 groups going at the same time, see which group builds the leprechaun first! The bigger dice pictures can be posted for all students to see. If you like this , please leave feedback!

Enjoy,
Mercedes Merrell
