FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “FREEBIE! Mystery Picture Hunt Game for Speech Therapy”

This is a fun game that can make up an entire therapy session or fill in when there is some spare time.
There is a page entirely filled with common object images in a variety of positions and locations, and smaller game cards with those same images.
Students pick a card, keep it secret, and give directions for the others
to guess what they are describing (either using definitions, or descriptive or locative concepts).

Introductory Phrases with AAAWWUBBIS, Lesson, Stations, Games, Practice, Poster!

Teach your students how to create complex sentences with AAAWWUBBIS Introductory Phrases! This Lesson will provide your students with explicit explanations using mentor sentences, a fun stations activity, a fun game, practice, application activities, a potential summative assessment, and a beautiful classroom poster!

The lesson consists of 42 PowerPoint/Google Slides to show your students how to craft these tricky compound/complex sentences. Mentor sentences foster classroom discussions, demonstrate quality writing, and model the correct use of introductory phrases and comma placement. Students will be able to identify, explain and apply each AAAWWUBBIS word to craft sentences.

Stations Activity gets your students up, moving, and collaborating. Students will examine mentor sentences, create and craft compound, complex sentences using each AAAWWUBBIS word/phrase.

AAAWWUBBIS Ball Toss game will have your students racing to complete introductory phrase challenges, creating complete engagement through the practice of sentence creation! My students beg to play this game anytime we have a few extra minutes!

Practice Word Document/Google Document will allow your students to practice crafting introductory phrase examples.

Finding Examples Activity will have your students searching for their own mentor sentences with their reading. Students can then work with you to create a bulletin board of compound sentence examples.

I use this as a guide when assessing my preschooler. I'm a homeschool mom, but this would also be helpful for any preschool teacher. I use this as a "check off list" to assess what I want my preschooler to know by the end of the year. It is a great way for me to assess what still needs to be taught/practiced. Theme Analysis in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Students will collaborate in literary circles on the topic of theme development- I call this the Theme Tracker Task Force group. Students will track the three most prevalent theme topics as they read through the play. The chart/lesson provided allows students to track evidence of the thread of each topic throughout the text as they read. They are then able to discuss this evidence and theme development, further preparing for their theme analysis essay.

Theme Google Presentation/PowerPoint to get students started in tracking the three important themes within this play. Guiding questions break down each theme for better understanding as students navigate A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
