Tic-Tac-Toe Book Project with Options for MS & HS

As a high school English teacher, it's often a reality (at least for me) that having students do independent reading projects can be difficult...to say the least. One approach hat I have used in my own classroom is a tic-tac-toe book project approach. While it might initially seem a bit more "elementary," the diversity of options and straightforward grading expectations allow for differentiation as well as multiple learning styles to be thoroughly addressed. This book project sheet can be used for an independent student project or a book that students are reading in a small-group or whole-class setting. Set up as a tic-tac-toe board, students are presented with 9 different options, of which they must make a tic-tac-toe by choosing three in a row diagonally, horizontally, or vertically. The options (see preview) are targeted to address different learning styles and talents, including artistic, verbal, linguistic, and technological (as well as many others).

In addition to the project assignments, there are “assessment cards” on the next page (that can be printed on the back of the assignment sheet) so students know what qualities and aspects will be graded for each individual assignment

As with all products made by A Teacher’s Teacher, this product comes with two types of files. One file is for quick use (.pdf) while the other (.docx) allows you to open, edit, and save any changes you’d like in order to make this assignment as effective in your class as possible. This editable option is one that separates many of my products from other sellers that only provide a .pdf that can’t be edited to suit your classroom (and students’) needs.
