FREE MATH LESSON - “Addition FREE: Apples”

Free!!! "Apples Are Adding Up!"
An apple themed math center or game. This center is aligned with the common core. It provides students an opportunity to interact with numbers in a concrete way. Students will use apple manipulatives to solve addition sentences, with sums 1-5. This activity can be used in a small group setting or a center. It is appropriate for preschool, kindergarten, and special education instruction. This activity is appropriate for a school or homeschool setting.

Objective: 
Use manipulatives to solve addition problems. Record the addition problem in equation form.

Materials: 
- Apple Orchard Mats with addition sentences (pg. 3-6) 
- Apple manipulatives to solve the problems (pg. 7)
- “Apples are Adding Up!” Extension worksheet (pg. 8)

Procedure:
- Students will choose an apple orchard addition mat and some apple manipulatives. I included a blank mat, so you can include your own addition problems.
- Students will represent each numeral with apple manipulatives and add the apples together to find the sum.
- Students will record the equation on the extension worksheet.
