SCIENCE LESSON - "Volcano Tabbed Booklet"
By: The Owl Teacher
Grades 2-5 Science
Grades 2-5 Science
EXPLOSIONS!
Every Kid LOVES Explosions!
So how can you safely have explosions while still teaching them?
With such large time constraints, wouldn't it be nice to
somehow integrate both reading and science together?
Do you wish you could assign the kids a minute to complete a center
while you just take a deep breath?
NOW YOU CAN!
Try my science tabbed booklets - Volcano Tabbed Booklet
This science booklet is very engaging, works like a center, all while implementing both science and reading practice skills!
It's Differentiated for your High Kiddos and Low Kiddos!
In this packet you will find a mini-book for students to assemble and
explore the critical science concepts of volcanoes. It can be used to
teach, reinforce, and/or challenge students, all while meeting their
needs and learning styles. The reading page has been differentiated for
your students with one being a higher level (HL) and the other being a
lower level (LL).
What's In It?
The tabs in this booklet can be used as science stations. The first tab contains an important vocabulary activity related to the science concept of volcanoes and corresponds with the reading piece provided. The second tab asks comprehension questions related to the reading piece and requires students to support their answers with textual evidence. The third tab focuses on an investigation to deepen the understanding of volcanoes. The fourth tab asks students to draw while the fifth tab prompts students to respond to a thought-provoking journal question.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - "Antonyms-Puzzles-Free"
Language Arts - Antonyms Center
by Molly McMahon
2nd-4th grade
This set was used for many years as a literacy center. I don't recall where I got them. I should have purchased a few extra sets . . . . but I didn't. Over time, several of the pieces were lost. This is the reason why I should have purchased extra sets. Especially when they were inexpensive. I should have foreseen the inevitable instead of pretending that I was existing in a "THINGS-NEVER-GET-LOST-CLASSROOM-UTOPIA"!
The image below shows the many pieces I now possess with no match:
These puzzles don't have the interlocking feature that the wooden puzzles have. They are made of card-stock. Nonetheless, they work reasonably well.
Best of all, I will never worry about losing pieces. I can always print more!
There is a minimal amount of time in preparing the puzzles. Print on card-stock paper and cut on the solid black lines. You will have an instant literacy center!
My two-piece antonym puzzles do not have the image prompts as the wooden ones shown in the first photo have. Students will need to be proficient readers to use these paper puzzles. There are two sets of puzzles. The first set uses basic words. The second set is a step above set one. I'm measuring set one at second and third grade level. Set two will be for third and fourth grades. If you have advanced first and second graders, they may enjoy using both sets.
The words used in these antonym puzzles align with my antonyms bingo games. Antonyms are woven into the Common Core State Standards. If you teach in the state of Virginia, they are also in the Standards of Learning. If you are interested in finding out more about my antonyms resources, click on either of the two images shown below to view another blog post on the subject.

2nd-4th grade
I have a complete set partial set of antonym puzzles. I love the interlocking feature of these wooden two-piece puzzles. The pictures on each puzzle piece is also helpful to children with limited reading ability. It is a nice prompt for them.
Here's what a few of the pieces look like:

"Centro de sÃlabas (Kindergarten Spanish Syllables)" Center
Kindergarten
by: Leigh Sanna @ Kinder Actividades
It's time to teach Spanish syllables! I have found it best to teach the syllables separately before combining the different vowel sounds. This centers packet allows students to practice and become comfortable reading syllables and words with the vowel "a" before moving onto the next vowel. Students read and match words with pictures. On the back of each page, they are able to break apart the same words in syllables and create some of their own words (real or silly...as long as they can read them back to me correctly!).
Below is an example of the syllables with "e" page. There is a similar worksheet for each of the other 4 vowels.
This product also includes a set of all of the clipart used on the worksheets. These can be used to practice vocabulary, reading, or spelling. You can print them and write the words on the back, or make separate index cards with these words on them to create a matching game.

Scrambled Sentences (April)
Grab this great resource HERE!
Scrambled Sentences (April)
This product is NOW AVAILABLE in a Scrambled Sentences Bundle. Purchasing the Bundle provides an 11% SAVINGS rather than purchasing each individual pack.
Great for morning work, homework, or center time. This April pack includes 54 pages. There are 27 April related pictures for students to unscramble the sentence at the bottom of each page by cutting the words out and gluing in the correct order to tell about the picture. There are 2 pages of each picture making the pack 54 pages. The first page with each picture has the “unscramble the sentence” activity and then students are to TRACE the sentence that matches the unscrambled sentence in the box. The second page with each picture has the “unscramble the sentence” activity, but then there is a blank box for students to WRITE the unscrambled sentence on their own (no tracing like the first page for each picture).
A black and white picture is included at the top of each page for students to color. This activity requires students to find the word with the capital letter to place first in the sentence and to find the last word by looking for the ending punctuation. Then students have to arrange the rest of the words in order to make sense and to match the picture at the top. A variety of sentence types and word choices are included to provide for DIFFERENTIATION.
Higher students could also turn to the back of their paper and add more sentences to create a story about the picture.
The PREVIEW shows every page included.
The 27 sentences included are:
I see a basket of eggs.
The bees will buzz.
The eggs are in the grass.
We will paint the eggs.
He will catch a butterfly.
The butterflies are pretty!
This is a chrysalis.
The egg is on the leaf.
He found a big egg.
The chick is hatching!
He is in the rain.
He is hiding the eggs.
He let the butterflies go.
He found ten eggs.
This is the prize egg.
Here is the Easter Bunny!
He likes jelly beans.
He is juggling eggs.
His basket is full.
I see a caterpillar.
The chick has an egg.
They are painting eggs.
The chick has flowers.
Can the ladybug fly?
Where is the grasshopper?
The snail is slow.
Where are the eggs?
I hope your students have fun with these scrambled sentences!
