FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Literature Circle Jobs for Elementary Students”

by Shelli and Brittany
1st - 4th Grade

My kids love, love, love this! It keeps them involved in the reading and they really take hold of their job. Included in this packet is a job description for a Reading Ranger, Vocabulary Detective, Connection Clerk, Prediction Professor, Discussion Director, and a Sergeant Summarizer. There is also a sheet for each person to fill out based on their job. For example, the vocabulary detective has a detective sheet that they need to fill out using unfamiliar words. I laminate the job descriptions and let the students choose them out of a hat when it is tiem for our literature circles. I run off copies of the papers they need to fill out while they are reading and discussing. I have a portfolio for each child that I place the papers in once they have finished them. We periodically look at them to see how they are doing. We talk about what job they are really good at and what job they need to improve on. Thank you and enjoy!
