FREE MISC. LESSON - “Owl Classroom Job Posters”

This is a printable poster pack. Use these posters to help manage your classroom jobs. This packet includes 23 different job posters. Each poster has a super cute owl graphic created by mycutegraphics.com.

You could punch holes in the posters and tie them together with ribbon for a very cute display. You could laminate them and write the students' names on them with a dry erase pen. Perhaps you could use clothespins to rotate the names' of the students. These are just a few ideas. Of course, you can use them as you see fit!

FREE MISC. LESSON - “Free Download End of the Year or Any Time Live and Learn Activity”

FREE Download: Live and Learn Life Lessons Class Activity for End of the Year or Any Time! - Common Core Aligned

This is an inspirational, fun, and rewarding activity to share with your students!

Several years ago I was inspired by a little book called "Live and Learn and Pass It On" by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. His idea was to have others jot down the lessons they have learned in life. He compiled all these lessons into a book, identifying each only with the person's age.

I thought it would be neat to see what my students could come up with at the end of the year. It's been such a positive experience that I wanted to share it with other teachers. Each year I read examples from the past to my students before they write their own. Year after year I get funny ones, sad ones, and some shocking ones, too. It's a great way to wrap up your semester, year, at any age or grade level!

Other uses for this activity: compile a collection for graduating seniors, a retiring teacher (have students write what they have learned about life from that particular teacher), or advice for a new teacher. The possibilities are endless and it's such a positive and fun way to end the term.

I updated the activity to include a literature & history component. Includes Common Core standards for use in language arts or history/social studies classroom.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Student Choice Menu Boards, Middle School ELA”

Whether you are a teacher needing to send home work with students for distance learning, a parent filling in gaps during breaks or summer, a homeschooling parent, a teacher planning an extended absence from your classroom, or a teacher teaching online for any number of reasons, these standards-based student-choice menu boards are no prep, highly engaging, and purposeful.

Student Experience: Students choose six of the nine activities/tasks per week. Students can choose from reading, writing, making videos, listening to a podcast, and more. Each task is specifically written to address an ELA standard, so that no time is wasted. The topics and activities are relevant to teens and are sure to extend and enhance learning in any setting. Students will be engaged, not just busy!
