Do your students need practice writing CVC words after segmenting each word (isolating each sound)? This FREE Noah's Ark CVC Words resource is a NO PREP, engaging activity for students to complete independently, in small groups, or as a whole-class activity!
This FREE seven-page pack features 9 Noah's Ark-themed pictures on each page. Under every picture are three Elkonin sound boxes (one box for each sound/letter) where students will write the word after saying, stretching, and segmenting each sound. These print-and-go worksheets provide meaningful practice with phonemic awareness, sound-symbol correspondence, and CVC word encoding.
There is one page for each short vowel (a, e, i, o, and u) plus two mixed-vowel review pages, giving students multiple opportunities to practice all five short vowel sounds.

A "Name That Picture" page is also included to identify each picture in case students have questions about the vocabulary. Keep this page nearby while students are working.

Early finishers can turn their paper over and write a sentence using each word from the front of the page. Students may also color the pictures after completing their work for additional fun.
These worksheets are perfect for morning work, literacy centers, independent practice, small-group instruction, homework, intervention, early finishers, or phonics review. Students also love using mini slinkies or other manipulatives to stretch each word as they segment the sounds!
