It includes a detailed lesson plan with step-by-step directions for teaching with a paper plate, the template for the triangles measured to match the paper plate, and a blank unit circle template for assessing students' understanding.

FREE MATH LESSON - “Number Puzzles-Number Words, Pictures, Ten-Frames, Tally Marks, and Numerals”

by Stacey Fisher
Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten

This freebie contains puzzles for the numbers 1-9. Students match number words, pictures, ten-frames, tally marks, and numerals. Just print, laminate, and cut the puzzle pieces apart.

There are two sets of the same puzzles included in this freebie. You can choose to print the puzzles with dots on the ten-frames presented in the "traditional" format where the dots progressively fill up the top row, from left to right, before filling up the bottom row. The second set of puzzles is almost exactly the same. However, the dots are randomly placed on the ten-frames in the second set of puzzles. Choose what would work best for your kids.

If you liked this product, check out my ten-frame unit. The 82 page packet contains LOTS of differentiated activities with ten-frames.

FREE MISC. LESSON - “Holiday Game Board "Acts of Kindness" Theme Cooperative Activity”

by Wise Guys
3rd - 6th Grade

Holiday Game Board "Acts of Kindness" Theme Cooperative Activity

This is a game with a "Acts of Kindness" and winter theme. All you need as a teacher is to print the game board (card stock seems to work best), cut up the game cards, supply a die and some tokens for each team, and then watch the fun!

Examples of game cards are:
Have you ever donated food to the needy? If you have, go ahead 5 spaces. If not, stay where you are.

or...Did you give someone a hug in the last 24 hours? If you have, go ahead 3 spaces. If not, stay where you are.

This is a fun activity that could maybe be used as a station during a holiday party or other classroom activity.

FREE MATH LESSON - “Place Value - I'm Thinking of a Number set 1”

by MathCoach
1st - 2nd Grade

Place Value: I'm Thinking of a Number - Set 1

This is the first of six different sets of "I'm Thinking of a Number Cards" to use when teaching place value. This set uses only 2 digit numbers.

I use the cards in a small group at first and have them build the number on a place value mat with base ten blocks. We discuss how they determined the number from the clues.
When the activity is moved to a center, students shuffle the cards, draw one card, build the number on their place value charts and then record it on the response sheet.

Included are thirty-six clue cards, a place value mat with tens and ones, and a student response sheet.

Common Core State Standards:

1.NBT.1
2.NBT.1 (for students needing more practice or remediation)
2.OA.3 (for students needing more practice or remediation)
