FREE MISC. LESSON - “Generic Physical Education Rubric (Print-Friendly)”

This rubric is designed to assess student performance in Physical Education based on four key criteria: understanding movement skills, performing movement skills, sportsmanship, and effort.

Understanding movement skills refers to the student's ability to participate in physical activities that develop health-related and skill-related fitness components, as well as to create and monitor personal fitness plans. This criterion also assesses the student's ability to demonstrate and explain how the elements of effort, space, time, objects, and people can enhance performance.

Performing movement skills assesses the student's ability to use feedback to improve body control and coordination when performing specialized movement skills, compose and perform movement sequences for specific purposes in a variety of contexts, and practice, apply, and transfer movement concepts and strategies.

Sportsmanship assesses the student's ability to participate in and investigate the cultural and historical significance of a range of physical activities. This criterion also evaluates the student's ability to practice and apply personal and social skills when undertaking a range of roles in physical activities, evaluate and justify reasons for decisions and choices of action when solving movement challenges, and modify rules and scoring systems to allow for fair play, safety, and inclusive participation.

Effort assesses the student's willingness to participate fully in all activities, to maintain a positive attitude towards learning, and to demonstrate a consistent level of effort during each lesson. This criterion evaluates the student's overall commitment to the class and their individual improvement.

Overall, this rubric provides a comprehensive assessment tool to evaluate student performance in Physical Education and to provide feedback for individual growth and development.
