FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “FREE Black History Close Reading-Harriet Tubman {Includes Google Slides} Rush”

by Ashleigh
3rd - 5th Grade

These close reading activities are perfect for Black History Month, or any time of the year! This is available as a traditional PDF and a Google Doc link!
Help your students dig deeper into nonfiction reading with these close reading passages and questions.
There are three reading passages about Harriet Tubman. I've written each passage on three different reading levels to make differentiation a little easier. There are also three sets of questions for each set of passages. The first set of questions require students to cite evidence in the text, and the second set of questions require students to analyze the text structure and word choice of the passage. The third set of questions have students respond to a question that promotes high order thinking. These passages are a great way to integrate Black History Month into your social studies and reading curriculum.
